A fundraiser has been set up in memory of a young woman who was found dead in Gorton Street.

Blackpool Police were called around 9.30am on Thursday 15 August to reports of a sudden death and found the body of a woman in her 20s.

This has now been confirmed as Gila Brown, 27, and donations are being sought in her memory.

Her sister Katie Morgan has paid tribute to her, speaking to The Gazette, and set up a GoFundMe aiming to raise £4,000 to help with funeral costs.

Katie said: "In loving memory of Gila Brown we're raising funds to help give her the send off she deserves.

"Gila was loved and cherished by many.

"This news has caused a great sadness to all who were fortunate to know her.

"As a family we are devastated by this loss, these times call for unity.

"She touched a lot of hearts and will never be forgotten.

"We are asking friends and family to reach out as unfortunately Gila had no living parents.

"Heaven has gained another angel, may she rest in peace. All donations are greatly appreciated no matter how small."

So far nearly £700 has been raised. You can see the GoFundMe and make a donation.

Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Two men, both in their 60s, were arrested during Thursday on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug.

Blackpool Police confirmed to The Blackpool Lead both men had been released on bail pending further enquiries.
