Animal inspectors are investigating reports a dog was 'punched and slapped' in a street in Blackpool.

The RSPCA has released a picture of a man they want to speak to after a report from a member of the public.

It is claimed a boxer type dog was seen being yanked on a lead away from another dog.

The boxer type dog was then seen being punched and slapped between two parked cars.

The incident took place just before 4pm on Monday 23 September in Waterloo Road, Blackpool.

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) Mike Man said: “This incident  took place in a busy retail area of Blackpool not far from Blackpool South Station and the Promenade so it is likely it was seen by a number of people. I am keen to trace the dog and check on the pet’s wellbeing”

The RSPCA has released footage captured by local CCTV cameras of a man who was in the area at the time who may be able to help provide information to assist the animal charity’s enquiries.

The man is of medium build and he was wearing jeans and a hooded top.

Anyone who has any information about the dog or his owner is asked to contact the RSPCA appeal line number on 03001238018, referencing incident number 01358312.
