Bus services in Blackpool are due to see changes from this Sunday (1 September) including the scrapping of some routes and introduction of new ones.

The 12 service is being brought in by Blackpool Transport with financial assistance from Lancashire County Council who have secured a multi-million pound funding package for bus improvements across the county.

The new 12 service runs Monday to Saturday from 7am to 5.30pm and links Blackpool and Poulton via Whitegate Drive, Blackpool Victoria Hospital (outpatients entrance) and Bispham.

The 12A is also introduced as a school bus and operates twice-a-day and includes a stop at the Victoria Hospital main entrance.

The 1A service has been scrapped entirely, with Blackpool Transport saying this is due to 'low demand' and some upcoming changes to its 1 service and the trams.

The 1 service is going every 30 minutes, daily, between Fleetwood Affinity Outlet and North Pier.

The 3 and 3A service now have later last buses, and from 5pm the 3 will run hourly from Mereside Tesco until 9pm. After 6pm the 3 from Cleveleys will depart at 10 minutes past each hour and the last bus is 9.30pm.

The 3A has a later last bus, going from Cleveleys Park to Mereside Tesco at 9.40pm.

The 18 service is being extended to Amy Johnson Way and linking with the Blackpool Enterprise Zone and also linking with Blackpool Victoria Hospital to give Marton residents direct access to the hospital.

Extended to the Enterprise Zone means the 18 now goes via St Annes Road to Amy Johnson Way.

And from Mereside Tesco the 18 will extend to the main entrance of Blackpool Victoria Hospital via Preston New Road and is also going to serve the Habour Hospital.

All new timetables are available to view on the Blackpool Transport website.

There's also a change coming on Stagecoach operated services as the 42 between Lancaster and Blackpool, via Garstang and Poulton, sees more morning journeys.

A new 8.20am departure from Blackpool is being brought in from Blackpool on Monday to Saturday. Updated timetables can be found on the Stagecoach site.
