Ten fire crews have been tackling a large-scale fire which has ripped through the former civil service building in North Shore
A fire at a former civil service office block in Blackpool has been branded as 'inevitable' by those living nearby.
Pictures show firefighters continuing to dampen down after flames tore through the Warbreck Hill Road office block during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The former DWP block in North Shore has 'become a target for vandals, thieves and children' according to one eyewitness speaking to The Blackpool Lead at the scene.
Roads near the scene of the fire have remained closed since late on Friday evening - with police directing traffic at busy Warbreck Hill Road/Bispham Road/Holyoake Avenue junction.
Warbreck Hill Road to the junctions of Devonshire Road and Holyoake Avenue are closed along with Bispham Road to the junction with Hayfield Avenue.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service's group manager Kirsty McCreesh said: "We were called just after 11m on Friday night to a significant fire in a disused commercial building in the Warbreck area of Blackpool.
"At the height of the incident here we've had 10 appliances here, plus our aerial ladder platform, high volume pump and water tower."
