All three seats in Bolton returned a Labour MP in the 2024 General Election
Bolton elected three Labour MPs as the town turned its back on the Conservatives in the 2024 General Election.
The party made two gains in the town as it won back the marginal Bolton North East and claimed what will be seen as a remarkable victory in Bolton West.
That seat had been the Conservative’s safest in Greater Manchester but Chris Green was among hundreds of casualties as the party endured a bruising election.
On a night of humiliation for the party, Green saw his 8,000 majority destroyed as Manchester councillor Phil Brickell won by almost 5,000 votes.
In Bolton North East, Kirith Entwistle romped home with a majority of 6,600, while only 85 votes separated the Conservative and Reform candidates.
In Bolton South and Walkden - formerly Bolton South East -, Yasmin Qureshi held onto the seat she has represented since 2010, finishing with almost double the votes of second place Reform.
Across the country, Labour won a historic landslide that saw a generational change in The Houses of Parliament. Keir Starmer will now become the Prime Minister.
Labour rebuilt much of its so-called ‘red wall’ that it lost in 2019 when Boris Johnson won his majority - though it was not without losing some seats, such as Blackburn and Islington North, to independent candidates. However, it was also a good night for The Liberal Democrats, The Green Party and Reform UK, who all made gains.
