A man is in hospital with a bleed on the brain after a serious assault during the disorder in Blackpool at the weekend.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, suffered to fractures to the skull between 4.30pm and 6pm at St John's Square on Saturday (3 August), police said.

Police have released CCTV images, pictured above, and want to speak with the man in relation to the incident.

Twenty people were arrested after disorder in Blackpool and a number have since been charged and pleaded guilty. Further arrests are expected, police have said.

Anyone with information about the man in the images should contact police on 101 quoting log 1139 of August 3 or you can email [email protected]

Police have warned that disorder and vandalism in Blackpool will not be tolerated ahead of planned protests across England this week, including in Blackpool.

They acknowledged that the incidents, and the potential for more, have left people in communities feeling concerned vulnerable.

Phil Davies, assistant chief constable at Lancashire Constabulary, said: "We will not stand by if disorder begins, or vandalism takes place. Arrests will be made either immediately or retrospectively.

"To those seeking to commit these offences, let this be a message to you: we will identify you, we will find you, and we will bring you to justice."
