The Altrincham & Sale Lead is launching next week and we want you to be a part of it.

Over the coming weeks we will scrutinise, investigate and inform on the big issues across Altrincham, Sale and its surrounding area.

The first weekly newsletter will land for subscribers on Thursday, 16 May. It will then be sent weekly along with a free newspaper for The Altrincham & Sale Lead being delivered to 10,000 homes across the area.

Among the issues we will be covering are how issues with the leasehold system are affecting people locally, the battle for school places, the property market and how highly sought after it is - and what will happen after the general election where longstanding MP Sir Graham Brady will not be standing.

We also want to know what you, our readers, want us to cover in Altrincham and Sale. You can get in touch at [email protected]

Every Thursday you will receive an in-depth feature or investigation, along with our recommendations for things to do in the next seven days, and things written elsewhere about Altrincham & Sale that we think are worth your time. We will be working closely with Altrincham Today, who will be helping to collate our recommendations for readers each week.

David Prior, publisher of Altrincham Today, said: “This is good news for Altrincham and Sale. The past decade has hardly been a period of growth for the local news industry, but The Lead’s issues-led long-read journalism is showing that when done well, there is no more important part of a functioning democracy. We’re looking forward to partnering with The Lead both online and in print.”

Natalie Morris, Lead Senior Editor (National), grew up in Altrincham & Sale and still has strong connections with the towns and surrounding areas. She said: “I’m incredibly proud to continue The Lead’s expansion into the North West, particularly in a place that is still home for me in many ways. Altrincham is consistently voted one of the best places to live, but there is so much more to it than good schools and footballer’s mansions.

“It has been fascinating to witness the changes that have taken place in Altrincham over the last few decades. I’m excited to see the varied and nuanced stories that will emerge as we look to local journalists to dig below the surface to uncover the issues that really matter in this region.”
